On the planet Crossroads there are portals connecting hundreds of worlds. On Earth, men go to Crossroads to participate in adventures on the planet Chaos as heroes. On Cassandra, women go to Crossroads to participate in adventures on the planet Chaos as Damsels in Distress.
On Earth, Sid is a college student who has a very odd uncle. When his uncle dies and leaves him his house, Sid learns that he has inherited more than a home. In the closet of the study is a portal to the planet Crossroads and his caretaker, Sally. From Crossroads is a portal to Chaos, a planet with Damsels in Distress. It is up to Sid to rescue the poor Damsels in Distress and claim his heroic rewards. / (Reviews)
Malcolm Charles Chandler is a rather quiet man and good neighbor who occasionally takes a trip through a portal to another world -- Crossroads. His caretaker, Alice, sends him on an adventure to rescue a Damsel in Distress. The rescue goes fine, but the ride home takes a long time.
Our Hero, Sid, returns to Chaos to face his greatest challenge. After assembling a small cadre of advisors, Sid recruits a small army to take on the slavers and to rescue three Damsels in Distress who have become enslaved. Follow his exploits as one of four generals in the Chaos Slave War.

Al Adams makes his first visit to Chaos as a Hero. However, he must first prepare for the trip. A rescue is chosen, and plans made. But the plans must change to suit the developing situation he meets on the ground. He does push ahead in establishing himself on Chaos.
Al Adams is on his way back to Chaos for another rescue, and to do more about setting up his base of operations. This time he has a problem, he's being asked to make a rescue that all the other Heroes have knocked back as a fancy form of suicide! The Damsels are captives of Dragons, a protected species he can't hurt. The Dragons are big, and dangerous. What can he do? He's their last hope, dare he refuse, like the others have?
