New Covers / New Discounts

OK, it took a lot of finagling, but I've got new covers for the entire Great Death and Catalyst series, and I've managed to drop the price of ALL my print books to only $7.98. (Believe me, considering how long those stories are, that's a major accomplishment!)

The books are available via my accounts on Amazon, Smashwords and Createspace, but it will take a while for the revisions to reach the other distributors. Take a look at them and see what you think.

Discounts on eBooks

Just so you're all aware, I'm offering 50% discounts on ALL my ebooks on Smashwords. Normally the twice-a-year offering lasts a week, but I hadn't realized it was running until today (Thursday).

If you visit the Smashwords' Ebook Week promotion (, purchase one of my books and enter the Coupon Code RAE50, you'll save half the normal price. (I'd have offered the first book in each series for free, but trying to enter separate coupon codes for each book is confusing.)

You'll also notice that I've just revised the covers for the entire "Great Death" series. I plan to revise the covers for the entire "Catalyst" series in a few days.

Disturbing Chapter

I'm expecting a Lot of feedback from the latest chapter, as it's easily the most disturbing in the entire story of Seeding Hope Among the Ashes (even more so than the details about David's treatments).

However, rest assured, this is the worst chapter (emotionally) in the book. The story gets easier for the rest of the book (though the threat of violence remains in the background throughout).

Google Maps in story

For those readers who like investigating where stories occur, my website has a Google Maps display of my story "Seeding Hope Among the Ashes". It pinpoints precisely where each section of the story occurs so you can follow along.

The address of the page, for those of you who don't like to search, is:

I have to apologize. This feature has been set up since I first published the book, but apparently the code for the Google Maps link got lost, unbeknownst to me. However, once I discovered the lapse, I fixed the problem and the feature is now back up.

The map won't help much for tracking Fowler's Grove, since it's a completely fictional town, but it's interesting to view distances and relationships between locations so you get a better feel for what the characters are facing.

Correction about Jacob (in "Seeding Hope")

Update: A couple people had questions about Jacob's history in the story. He wasn't a wild or feral boar, but was instead an ungelded domestic pig. Thus he's used to people, but the raging hormones coursing thru his system makes him unreliable around people (which is why most pig farmers contract-out pig breeding to specialists).

In the beginning of "Grappling with Survival", Alice found Jacob on a domestic farm, trapped under his mother who'd collapsed on him when she died, before he'd been gelded.

By the way, the previous blog entry contained several misspellings ("bore" instead of "boar"). Those have since been corrected.
