When 18-year-old Anthony Carter, lowly second mate in a small schooner, and Harriet Lambert, the young, arrogant daughter of a Royal Navy admiral, barely survive a shipwreck, they recognise each other's mettles. A short-lived romance ensues, but it takes years and great perils and pains for them to find happiness together. A romance set during the Napoleonic Wars.
Will Johnstone's seventy-year-old consciousness finds itself back in his twelve-year-old body as it is about to suicide. His 'old brain' pulls back and resumes his younger self's troubled life. It is soon apparent that there are subtle differences between the world he lived in and the one he now finds himself in - and these difference accumulate. Through his friendship with Col, Will finds himself caught up in events at the edge of the Cold War. This story contains some physical child abuse.
This is the continuation of the story begun in 101 Bell Whistle. Read that story first. This second book reveals even deeper mysteries and new discoveries made that reveal much about the house and previous occupants. Note: Chapter 3 of this story deals with the house's connection to slavery of the past century. In this chapter the N-word is used by a slave speaking of other slaves as did happen in actual accounts of the time. If this offends you then you may want to skip over this chapter.
In 1843 16-year-old Lewis Clark kills one of the two sons of Mr. Tyler, the richest man in Fayette County. He also takes the blame for killing his other son. Given Tyler's reputation as a vengeful and violent man, Lewis flees for his life. This is the story of his escape and his adventures. Another of my fantasy histories.
