I have been a reader of Science Fiction since my teens (& I'm now in my 80s). I've read most of the old masters of SciFi, like E.E. Smith and Edmund Hamilton and their galaxy-wide space battles.

When I started reading this, I thought "Good, a space battle story". It is, but with a difference. You see what is happening behind the scenes.

What a lot of those authors never did was let you know what people needed to do to create those gigantic space fleets. All the behind-the-scenes political haggling to create those fleets, how they trained, how many of their weapons were created, many of the strategies, and some of the individual stories in some of the battles.

This story goes into those, but not without a lot of the emotions involved. There are some surprises too.

For the length of the story (446K) there were less than a dozen errors, but it did have one of my BAD errors, misuse of it's. All in all, a very good read.
