Chapter 28

0700 Thursday 2nd February Lt Col Harvey.

Captain Isaac Hamilton had done a superb job planning the event even if different higher headquarters tried to subvert it. The day was clear, temperature was 22 F, wind was Four to Eight MPH from the North which was for our Rifle Range coming right at the shooters faces. There was to be light snow tomorrow and the next day with Two to Three inches each day with daytime temperatures in the mid-Twenties and wind from the west increasing to Ten to Fifteen MPH. Great weather for our Artic Assault Games.

Our team drew Rifle/Pistol Range in the morning with the active USA and the USAF teams. Our Artic Skills testing will be this afternoon after the range. We are ready for all comers. “The book” had us finishing a strong Second to the active Army team. People marking the targets were not competing so teams could shoot and then move to the skills portion.

All personnel on the teams, including the medical personnel, will fire the Rifle. Silhouette targets. Forty rounds hit or miss, Forty points each person 200, 300, and 500 Meters. 1680-points possible per team. Bragging rights for X’s.

All personnel on the teams, including the medical personnel, will fire the Pistol. Silhouette targets. Forty rounds hit or miss, Forty points each person 25, 15, and 7.5 Meters. 1680-point possible per team. Bragging rights for X’s.

Time to start shooting.

Our Forty-Two-member team dropped Three points in the rifle competition with Seventeen Possibles (Fifty Rounds all Ten X) and no rounds outside the bullseye. Score 1677.

The pistol we dropped Five points with Twenty Possibles. Score 3352.

M2 team scored a possible 100 points. They had Twenty-Five rounds left over that got us 25-bonus points. Score 3477.

Our Six Squad Automatic Rifleman. All hit their targets, 360 Points. Ten rounds left over 10-bonus points. Score 3847.

The referees did not spot our M107 Artic Sniper Team. They scored 20 points. This included a 3000-meter shot that all other teams missed and gave us 20-bonus point. Score 3887.

M224 Team had all rounds with within 2 Meters for 50-Points. Two right on top of the target for 10 bonus points. Score 3997.

We led our closest team, the Marines, by 346 points. The Active Army Third by 411 points.

Martinez and Greagory highlighted our skills competition by saving all Four of the wounded to including the sucking chest wound. The team lost Twenty-Seven points in the skills competition. Score 7970. We now led the Marines by 511points. The Active Army in Second place by 521 points.

We waved the Engineers team attacking the assault course first. We chose to attack the USAF team at 0800-1000 bracket in the morning and defend against the Active USA team in the 1600-1800 bracket on February 4th.

The Marines also waved the Engineers team attacking the USAR. They chose the 1100-1400 bracket on the 3rd and defend against the USAF on the 4th in the 0700-1000 bracket.

That left the Engineers team to attack the Active USA in the 1500-1800 bracket on the 3rd of February and the Alaska NG to attack the Engineers in the 1100-1400 bracket on the 4th of February.

All the teams had dinner together at the University Dining Facility. The smack talk flowed more than the coffee. The transfer of funds that people had agreed to on the shooting scores took place. The transfer included comments that the money would flow back to them in Two days so do not spend it. The reply was no it will be here to join the other donations you make to us.

All the team’s smack talk, they did in the spirit of competition with no animosity between anyone. Our team did take a lot of calls of home field advantage and great deal of luck that day because no group could shoot that well consistently. Our people replied come any day and we will still take your lunch money.

At 2000 I called my people and said it is time to call it a night, and we left. All the other teams followed us out and we bid good night to each other as we headed for our beds. Revely for the Wolverine Field team was 0400 with formation at 0530 to draw weapons and ammunition.

Currahee Nations

Arther had taken over The Wappinger Nation Center for Innovation Coliseum where he established an SNCO Club. All E-6’s and above gathered to eat, drink a limited amount of alcohol, and swap lies. There was an exchange of funds at this event also. Again, just wait until the finish of the games and see who holds all the money. Security reported the event lasted until 2330 when Art closed the affair.

The Wappinger Nation Inc. International Headquarters Dining Room, The Grand Poo-Bah, became an Officers Club. The General Officers, their Officer staff, and all other Officers held their meal there. There, Funds also changed hands. Again, with talk of waiting until the 4th when we win. We had a working dinner. We talked of the DRCS and how it could affect the battlefield. There were Officers who believed The United States should not fielded DRCS until we developed a counter measure. Another group of mostly USAF Officers wondered if it could intercept an ICBM and would that violate any treaties currently in effect. K told them with enough power it could hit a satellite and burn it up, but the power requirement would be enormous and not practical.

The Service Secretaries and JCS talk of where MCAS Wolverine Field and the Wappinger Nation Militia would fit into the DOD structure. How much of the equipment we had the DOD should allow us to keep or what we needed to turn into the DOD.

My reply was we planned to keep all of our toys and train people to use them. We will have Two Heavy Calvary Brigades. One an Independent National Guard unit not under the control of a State Governor but The Principle Chief of the Wappinger Nation. The other is an Army Reserve Unit under control of the US Army Reserve Command. We have not done a full inventory yet and will make no decisions until we finish the inventory.

If we find any NBC items, we will immediately call you to remove them. All other items we will talk about when we finish our inventory. The SEC DEF agreed that plan was acceptable to the DOD, but he would like to see an inventory sooner than later. I agreed we would start next week but we were still finding hidden storage areas and we might not find all that is here.
