Due to Scientific discoveries earlier this year, I have modified this tale to reflect the discoveries.

I'm reposting 'Per Ardua Ad Astra', in chunks, hoping that I've corrected all the errors that you've told me about. There are, in addition, a few revisions that have occurred to me in the meantime.

I would be grateful for your review of the tale, either through the Fnestories feedback or their review system. Thank you to all of you.

Errors and Inconsistencies

Like most authors, I enjoy hearing from my readers. The emails that I find the most useful, however, are those that report 'Errors and Inconsistencies'. There have been a few of these in the past, and I'm sure that there will be more in the future.

Let me thank you in advance for improving my tales, and I promise to try and reply to all and any of your emails.

Artistic Verisimilitudes

Nobody's perfect, but I hope that between my Editor, and myself we catch the majority of the errors, typographical and otherwise that creep in. I must tell you of two massive mistakes. In 'per Ardua Ad Astra', I misspelled 'hangar', three times out of seventeen. The other whopper came about because of a seventy year old memory. In my youth, I was taken to see John Wayne in 'The Fighting Seabees'. Dredging up those distant memories, I thought that they had been part of the Marines, or at least used Marine ranks.

How wrong I was. Now I try to double check all checkable facts to give, as Gilbert put it, 'corroborative details, intended to give artistic verisimilitude to an otherwise bald an unconvincing narrative'.

Help me, please. If you find an error or something that could be better expressed, please send me an email. At the very least, I will list my contributors. Thank you.

I am re-posting Chapter 1 of 'Per Ardua Ad Astra' with some of those 'corroborative' details. The sequel, 'Per Astra Ad Galaxias', I hope to start posting shortly.

Relating to Chapter 36 of 'Per Ardua Ad Astra'

May I take this opportunity to wish all my readers the Season's Greetings.

This blog describes the use of time units on the Centauran Colony world of Osmum around Alpha Centaurus B.

The planet Osmum rotates once every 23 Earth hours. This is called a Dem.

The planet circles its star once in 262 Dem. This is called a Seas.

One Dem is made up of 20 Hue.

One Hue is made up of 50 Meg.

One Meg is made up of 100 Sum.

Therefore, one Sum equals 0.828 seconds, one Meg equals 1.380 minutes, one Hue equals 1.150 hours, and 224 light-Seas equals about 154 light-years.

I hope that this explains some of the terms used in the story.

Incidentally, there are four more Chapters to this tale. I do hope you like the ending. My Editor hated it, or rather me. I am not sure which.
