Reign of Havok announcement

I have just completed the edit to Reign of Havok, you can find details here http://jmfhildebrandt.livejournal.com/21888.html on my external blog. For those of you waiting for new posts, this is what has been capturing my time. I got in an editing groove and had to finish that. Now that it is done, I will hopefully get the next chapters of Enter the Darkness ready for posting in the next week or so. With school starting back up, I have been fairly busy of late but things should go faster now that I have Reign of Havok out of the way. So check out the link and hopefully you will enjoy yourselves with that for a bit while I get other stuff ready for you here.

Update on Enter the Darkness

A quick update on how things are progressing on Enter the Darkness. Chapter 18 is finish, I think. Unfortunately, I have, for the time being, decided to break the next few sequences up into two chapters rather than cram them all into one super-long chapter. Since that is the case, I will hold off on posting 18 until 19 is completed. I am hoping that will be soon (as in the next week or so).

As for the e-mails I have been getting regarding Future Distorted and other languishing, in progress stories, I will be getting back to them once Enter the Darkness is finished, barring any anvil-related meddling by my Muse. Just bear with me on this, EtD is almost over!

That is all for now.

Another New (Short) Enter the Darkness Chapter

As promised last time, the new Enter the Darkness chapter that I just submitted for your reading pleasure was short. The reason it took so long to write it, however, was a minor case of writer's block. I would sit in front of the computer bouncing from open project to open project, not feeling any kind of just-fucking-write-it! vibe. This chapter was short and somewhat to the point, simply being a lead-up chapter to the finale. My best guess is there are only two chapters left of EtD. I have already begun writing Chapter 18, but I won't estimate when it will be ready because I am pretty sure it will be quite a bit longer than Chapter 17. Unless, of course, I irritate those of you following this story by breaking the chapter in two. However, should I decide to do that, I will probably hold off posting 18 until 19 is finished so I don't find a mob outside my house brandishing pitchforks and torches.

As for future plans, I reiterate my intention to wrap up EtD before doing anything else, Muse-related anvils to the head notwithstanding. After EtD is wrapped up I will probably try to get back to Future Distorted, as the next chapter of that is half written. Other candidates for next posting after EtD is done are the next chapter of Anomaly of the Fates, an attempt to finish The Death of Love in Morristown (though that one is lacking inspiration, which is why it is marked inactive), and an Am'mortal story I started but have not gotten around to finishing. It all probably depends on my Muse and whether or not she feels like being helpful.

That is all for now. Look for Chapter 17 of Enter the Darkness sometime later today or very early tomorrow and as always, feel free to send constructive criticism. I greatly appreciate all the feedback I get from those of you who send it.

New Enter the Darkness Chapter

As the title suggests, I have just submitted the next chapter to Enter the Darkness. It should be up by tomorrow. I finally worked it around to a cut-off point and edited it. At just over 15 pages in MS Word, I think it might be the longest chapter thus far. The next chapter is either going to be just as long or fairly short, depending on how I decide to break down the rest of the story as it gets written. Given that there are probably only going to be another three or so chapters, I am leaning towards the next chapter being on the short side as a transition between this latest chapter and the climax chapter. Either way, I think that I will be trying to polish off Enter the Darkness before working on anything else. For those of you waiting for the next chapter in Anomaly of the Fates or Future Distorted, sorry. Unless my muse gets uppity, I am hoping to finish up this story before working on other stuff.

That's all for now. Enjoy the new chapter of EtD!

Finally a Finale!

All right folks, I know it has been longer than I thought, but the final chapter of An Abridged History of the Order sort of got away from me. I thought I was going to be writing a quick, five page short, short story and wound up writing just a regular twelve page short story longer than most chapters I write for the novel-length works I post. I just submitted it so it should be up by tomorrow, later tonight if the Webmaster is rocking his magic today.

Chapter V of AAHotO is the finale of this work and I will now endeavor to get back to finishing up the next chapter of Enter the Darkness, which has also gotten away from me and will be quite long. I could have broken it up into two chapters, but I could not find a convenient and satisfactory place to break it, so you get to wait and then revel for longer on this one. As I told a reader who recently wrote me about finishing Enter the Darkness, I figure another three chapters or so and EtD will be finished.

For those of you now bawling your eyes out and screaming, "NOOOOOO!," relax. I have already started the sequel to Enter the Darkness. It was never meant to be a stand alone story but more of an origin story to lead into a series of novels about Alexandra McKiernan and her life as she battles the forces of Darkness. I already have a title to the next book, In the Darkness Falling, so be patient on that one and it will be forthcoming.

After wrapping up the next chapter of EtD, my plans are in the air. I would really like to wrap up the whole story but I also don't want to leave other stories languishing with the "In Progress" label too long. My best guess is that, as always, it will be up to the temperamental muse I have been assigned and whether her anvil logistics are running smoothly.

That is all for now, enjoy the finale of AAHotO (those of you who are reading it) and as always I welcome your comments, so long as they are constructive.
