Chapter 3

The Road Well Traveled

Awakened in alien environs,
By foreign people was he encircled,
Eiren did once again begin
To draw from Gaea's bounty.

But forewarned of such reaction
Those magi called to aid
Did stop the boy's offense
And ease him from his slumber.

Of his locale was he informed
And given cause for his seizure
The wizened figure of the Archmage
Did explain his Fate and destiny.

Long years did he study
In the heart of the Ukraine,
Imbibing Wisdom from all who came
To see the Child of Kismet.

Years down the Road of Destiny
Did the boy mourn his mother's murder
At the hands of unknown enemies,
Unable to Avenge her.

Long and cruel was Life,
Empty of companionship.
Learning life's hard lessons
Under loving, protective gazes.

When at last the day came,
His maturity finally reached,
Did the Boy of Kismet, turned Man of Fate,
Set foot upon that long and lonely Road.

Walking the Road of Providence
And learning the way of the world,
Eiren did see its hard-fought struggle,
Good versus Evil, with neither the victor.

He came to see the wisdom
In the Balance of the Fates,
Neutrality became his Mantra
Giving strength when wearied by Life.

Drifting from conflict to conflict
This man the Fates had chosen
Became a force for the Balance of all
While searching for something not lost.

A great and feared warrior
Of stupendous repute became he.
Cohorts and allies abounded
But few true friends were ever met.

'Til his Path of Destiny did take him
Into the Land of the Franks,
And the rewards of his faithfulness
To be imparted by the Fates.

That which was not lost
Would be found near the shores
Of a city which never saw Light
And abounded with the putridness of Darkness.

Far beneath the earth
Captured by the Minions
Would Eiren find loyal friends
Amidst scores of ardent foes.

Discovered as a foe
Bound in wards and enchantments
That which was not lost
Would be found in a Place of Justice

Love would enter to aid him
In flight from his foes
To the coast of his ancestral homeland
But more strife was yet to come.

Fleeing the Minions, but not the Masters
Eiren took refuge in the Halls of the Dragonmage.
Fenia took to guarding the resting Man of Fate,
In a Time of Heroes and Magik!
