How to structure submissions' text for best result

To get the best results while submitting stories/chapters to the site, there are few things that you can do:

General stuff:

  1. Always include the story's title and author name in each submitted file/text. This helps minimize the incidents of the wrong file ending up on the site.
  2. Make sure there are two blank lines between paragraphs.
  3. If you can, use unicode (UTF-8 with BOM).
  4. Don't use pre-wrapped text. Let the paragraphs wrap on their own.
  5. Don't use weird/elaborate section dividers. They will get replaced by a simple horizontal rule.

Submission specific stuff:

  1. Single-part stories:
Include the story's title, author name at the start of the file/text and then the story's text:

    My Story's Title

    by Author name

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit. Praesent aliquam, justo convallis luctus rutrum, erat nulla fermentum diam, at nonummy quam ante ac quam. Maecenas urna purus, fermentum id, molestie in, commodo porttitor, felis. Nam blandit quam ut lacus. Quisque ornare risus quis ligula. Phasellus tristique purus a augue condimentum adipiscing. Aenean sagittis. Etiam leo pede, rhoncus venenatis, tristique in, vulputate at, odio.

Donec et ipsum et sapien vehicula nonummy. Suspendisse potenti. Fusce varius urna id quam. Sed neque mi, varius eget, tincidunt nec, suscipit id, libero. In eget purus.

  2. Multi-part stories:
    • Include the story's title, author name at the start of the file/text.
    • Any text that you want on the story's index page needs to be between the author name and the first chapter marker.
    • If a chapter as a particular title include it on the same line as the chapter marker.
    • Never, ever omit the first chapter marker.
    • Put all the chapters/parts in one file and separate them by chapter markers. If you include multiple files, we concatenate them into a single file before we start processing.
    • If you submit multiple files, then include the chapter number at the top of each file.
