Caleb Connor didn't expect to have an extraterrestrial space ship land on his camp site. He didn't expect the ethereal alien that survived the crash to take up residence in his head either, but sometime you have to roll with the punches that life throws at you. Besides, sometime good things happen like the lady doctor that he met. Bad people like General Branch are simply speed bumps on the road of life. Kidnapping and murder are thwarted with the advantages Caleb's ethereal Companion provides. One advantage that hadn't been available to previous hosts is the ability to open a portal to another universe, allowing other Companions to join with nearby prospective hosts. The General is defeated, and arrested, but he escapes and disappears. Most of the Connor clan hosting Companions have move to Texas. It has been a year since the fateful space ship crash. The ethereal alien that survived, opening a portal allowing more Companions into this universe, has been finding ways to protect the hosts. General Branch is still at large. When Branch resurfaces with terrorists, he is focused on revenge. A kidnapping causes a different portal opening, and the beings that enter this universe are not the benign Companions that Caleb knows. The aliens that crashed were brought down by a proximity bomb on a military satellite. They were able to send a transmission before crashing, and angry aliens are expected to arrive anytime in the next four to two hundred years. Caleb has a plan to persuade the aliens to talk, before they eradicate mankind. Maybe Caleb and his clan can convince the aliens that human's aren't an evil infection that should not be allowed to fester. The only other option is to defend the earth, despite opposition that believes mankind shouldn't infest the rest of the solar system and the universe.
